Color Your Metal

This will be a fun weekend! In this two day workshop students will learn
the diverse ways to add color to their metal jewelry. Learn and explore
with unique patina recipes, enamel and color pencil. We will start with
applying texture to metal then splash on the color.

Working with Scrap Gold

Sat. & Sun., Nov. 20 – 21, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Test your gold scraps, melt and create a simple piece of jewelry. In the
era of renew, reuse and recycle, students will learn how to do this in their
studio and jewelry making. Bring your old unwanted gold and turn it into
something more desirable. The basics of gold fabrication will be covered
as well as how to keep your studio green and clean.

Bezels in a Day

Saturday, Oct. 9, 9:00am – 4:00pm
Learn tips, tricks and techniques to get over those bezel setting blues!
In this one day workshop we will explore short cuts to perfect bezels,
decorative bezels and setting those odd shaped stones.
(Must have soldering experience)

Simply Rivets
Instructor: Tom McCarthy
Saturday, December 4, 10:00am – 4:00pm
Rivets are used to connect materials without using a torch which
makes them perfect for materials that can’t be soldered – wood, plastic,
aluminum, titanium. They can also be used if you simply don’t want
to solder or don’t have a torch. We will cover various forms of riveting
including basic, flush rivets, headed rivets, tube rivets and a relative, the
tenon. Students must have some basic metals skills. Bring your favorite
tools. This is really low tech and the ArtCenter has all of the hammers we
will need.
Materials, drills and drill bits will be available from the instructor for a $15 to $20
fee.

Jewelry Open Studio
The jewelry studio is available for use by members of ArtCenter
Manatee who have successfully completed a Silver I jewelry
class at ArtCenter Manatee. The open studio fee is $10 per
half day. Jewelry open studio is scheduled monthly with a
studio monitor so please call 746-2862 for studio times and to
register. Evening open studios must be paid for at the time of
registration.
Studio space is limited - Please register at least 24 hours prior
to your desired Open Studio time.
Fees:
ACM members: 1/2 day $10.00 per person
Full day $20.00 per person
FSG members: 1/2 day $5.00 per person

Digital Camera Crash Course

Saturday, Dec. 4, 10:00am – 4:00am
Digital meltdown over too many options? Bring your
photographic experience into sharper focus in this one
day workshop! We’ll begin with the fun of photography
as it applies to composition, lighting and subject choice. We’ll explore
tested methods that will improve your travel, portrait and family
pictures using your zoom lens and available camera adjustments.
Megapixel and J-Peg quality choices are decided by the type of
photography you do. Brief lecture and discussion is supported by
slide presentations and then you’ll be shown which buttons and
menu options to choose. This comprehensive class will help you
take control of your digital camera! For all digital cameras.
