Tool Time with Tom
FSG Jewelry Workshop
Instructor: Tom Benham - Supply List
Saturday & Sunday, Feb. 20 & 21, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Join Tom for a fun weekend in the workshop learning how to make your own chasing, repoussé and texturing tools. Learn how to grind, shape and polish tools as well as heat-treat and anneal the tool steel to proper hardness. Tom will even assist you in re-working any tools you may already have.
Tom particularly likes to offer this workshop for individuals interested in pursuing the art of chasing and repoussé. A good set of basic tools is absolutely necessary but they are expensive and hard to find. In the future, you will know how to make your own tools at a fraction of the cost of purchased tools and at your own convenience.
To facilitate the workshop, we will order the proper tool steel stock and have it cut to length.
A Student Materials Fee of $25 will cover handouts, the use of the grinding machines and equipment needed for the process as well
as enough tool steel for the first six tools. Additional tool stock will be available for purchase.

Mounting Techniques
for Unusual Natural Stones
Instructor: : Mary Ann Devos
Saturday and Sunday, February 13 & 14, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
As a PMC artist becomes more and more experienced, there often is
the desire to incorporate more unusual gemstones, especially irregular or
large natural gems. This class will explore the ways to create a PMC piece
which is custom made to hold that special gemstone. Since each stone
is unique, the student will work, one on one, with the teacher to create an
exciting design which will hold the gemstone securely.
All supplies, including a wide selection of beautiful gemstones will be available
for purchase from the teacher at the workshop.
