Painting the Impressionist Method Julie Hanson Supply List Drawing materials: Small sketch book for thumbnail sketches and notes. pastel pencil for sketching in composition Painting materials: Oil, Water-soluble Oil, Acrylic or Pastel If you use Oil, be sure to use only Weber Turpenoid for thinner (or Gamblin odorless) Palette of colors: (these colors are the very minimum - if you want to use more, wait until after the first class discussion) Lemon yellow Cadmium yellow med (deep for acrylic) Cadmium red light Permanent Rose (quinacridone) Manganese blue (Cerulean is ok) Ultramarine blue Burnt Sienna White MUST HAVE a palette knife for all wet mediums (diamond shape about 2 ¼ inches long) Assortment of brushes (optional) Container for thinner or water Paper towels Palette for mixing colors (at least 12 x 16 - bigger is better) I use disposable palette paper in a plastic box with a snap lid Something to paint on . . . at least 12 x 16 (real artist canvas in a pad works great or stretched canvas or canvas boards . . .) |
