![]() Entry Requirements for Exhibiting Artists Originality: Entries must be the original work of the artist and have been completed within the last three years, with the exception of sculpture which must have been completed within the past five years. Copies of paintings, published photographs or other works of art will not be accepted. All prints, lithographs, serigraphs, etchings, wood or linoleum blocks, etc., must be hand pulled and signed by the artist. Reproductions will not be accepted for exhibition unless the artist has rented the gallery or the medium is photography If plagiarism is discovered in artwork submitted for an exhibition, the artist's work will be removed from the show. If prize money is involved, the funds will be returned to ArtCenter Manatee. A strong letter of condemnation will be sent to the artist from the Board informing the artist that he/she is barred from entering any ArtCenter exhibitions for one year. Work done under instruction in a classroom situation will not be accepted. The only exception is for a student show. Work previously shown at the ArtCenter will not be accepted a second time, with the exception of use in the Instructors' Exhibition, Invitational Exhibition or Gallery Rental. Work shown in the Artists' Market is not eligible for exhibition in the main galleries. Prizes:Prize winners must be present at the awards ceremony or send a representative to receive the award unless they receive approval by the Executive Director to make alternative arrangements. Size: Maximum size for paintings is 6'x 6'. Any entry weighing over 40 lbs must be handled by the exhibitor and prior arrangements for its placement made with the gallery presentation chairman. Any exceptions must be approved by a member of the presentation committee. Framing: All framed artwork under 22"x 28" may use glass. Framed artwork over this size must use Plexiglas. Unframed canvases must be museum wrapped with painted edges. All pictures must be stoutly wired. Wire should be securely attached, without excess wire, and placed approximately one third of the height down from the top of the piece. Tape the ends of rough wire. We do not recommend plastic coated wire as it tends to slip using the chain hanging system. Sawtooth hangers are not acceptable. If the hangers are adjustable, they must be adjusted to the correct height before the work is submitted. Adjustable clips with two sheets of glass or Plexiglas are not acceptable in place of a frame. Frames must be in good condition. Mats must be clean, in good repair and well cut and the frame, glass or Plexiglas, should be clean and unscratched. Any entry not meeting these specifications will not be accepted for jurying. Any work requiring special handling should be accompanied with all necessary hardware. Withdrawal: No work accepted for an exhibition may be substituted, nor will any be permitted to be withdrawn during an exhibition, except in extenuating circumstances, and then only with the approval of the ArtCenter Director. Sales: Artwork which is sold during the exhibition must remain hanging until the exhibition is over. The purchase price, less the ArtCenter's 40% commission, will be paid to the artist when the exhibition is taken down. Pickup Deadline: All work must be picked up on the designated pick up date. Any work left at ArtCenter Manatee more than 7 working days after the pick up date will incur a $5 per day charge. Statement of Responsibility: All entries are left at the owner's risk. Although precautions are taken, ArtCenter Manatee is not responsible for damage or theft. Submission of work to any exhibition constitutes agreement on the part of the artist to provisions here set forth.
