Development Director
ArtCenter Manatee, the premier center for arts in Manatee County, is looking for an energetic, results oriented Development Director. This person will be responsible for securing the financial resources needed for operating costs, growth and long-term sustainability of the ArtCenter.
The Development Director will manage a portfolio of prospective donors and act as the major gift fundraiser. Other aspects of the job include: securing sponsorships for events and programs, grant writing, gift entry and acknowledgement; database management; donor research, marketing and communications.
Requirements:
A college degree from an accredited college or university; two years of experience in fund development; proven track record of achieving revenue targets; a thorough understanding of fund raising concepts and practices; have exceptional written and oral communication skills.

Position Overview:
An exciting opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, has a genuine interest in the arts, loves to connect with people and has the tenacity and determination to strategically pursue a goal to a positive outcome. This Development Director has a primary role in grant writing, developing corporate sponsorships, expanding the membership base and encouraging individual donations, grant writing, working with Events Director on special fundraising events, donor stewardship and acknowledgement and database management. He/she will join the team of what is recognized as one of the most innovative and fastest growing Community Art Centers in Florida.
Essential Job Functions:
The Development Director (DD) reports to the Chief Executive and is responsible for all aspects of fundraising. The principal duties of the Development Director include:
- Budget and finance the DD will provide leadership in developing a comprehensive annual Development and Communications Plan (with associated budget, short- and long-range goals, timelines and milestones) to meet institutional funding objectives.
- Membership development designing and implementing a strategy to attract and acquire new members, retain existing members, create and implement a major gifts program, and identify and cultivate corporate donors, sponsors and prospects, build strong relationships with donors.
- Foundation fundraising working with a board/advisory board committee to prepare funding proposals targeted to appropriate foundations and government agencies.
- Communications the DD will lead implementation of a communications/PR plan.
- Events management the DD will take a leading role with the Chief Executive to envision, plan, and implement major fund raising events.
- Outreach Enlisting Board and Advisory Board and corporate leadership for peer to peer outreach such as letters of endorsement and personal solicitations to corporations
- Donor Portfolio -Proactively developing and managing a portfolio of approximately 100+ major gift prospects, maintains a strict personal visit and solicitation goal of 20 visits/solicitations per month and recording all activity in contact reports with Donor Perfect.

- Demonstrated success in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of corporate sponsorship and grants.
- Strong computer and database management skills.
- Superior oral, written communication and presentation skills.
- Extremely strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing requests.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a sense of humor are both essential.
- Problem solving skills to facilitate negotiating with tact and diplomacy.
- Self-confidence, creativity, and entrepreneurial skills.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends on special events and networking.
