Students will learn how to use their imagination to manipulate photos and
sketches to create more interesting compositions. Each student will work
on their original ideas from their own photographs and sketches with
guidance from the teacher. The process of painting from start to finish
will be taught which will include getting motivated, designing, handling the
paint, blending and mixing color and glazing.

Learn how to use acrylics like oils. The addition of mediums makes it easier to slow down the quick drying properties of
acrylics. Several demonstrations will be given in each session as well as personalized techniques shown for each student's
needs. Bring photo references to paint from in the subject matter you enjoy the most.

Painting the Impressionist Method

Fridays, 1:00pm – 4:00pm

This class will stretch the way you think, feel & interpret color. The
best mediums (in order of preference) include: Oil, Water-soluble Oil,
Acrylic and Pastel. This five week course will offer focus and complete
instruction on how to use an impressionist palette and set up a painting
using temperature painting. I choose the subject that the class will work
from every other week. The weeks that I do not, students will work on
their own subject matter. This class format allows for both individual
direction & maximum learning potential. Bring the paints that you have to
the first class when colors will be discussed. Project will be given for the
first class, bring photographs that you would like to work from to class. If
you want to add a little or a lot more color to your painting style, this is the
class.

Painting from the Live Model

Fridays, 9:00am – 12:00pm

So you’ve captured the likeness but where is the color? Don’t rely on
your earth colors to do the job! Learn to interpret and mix beautiful skin
tones. This three hour class will offer a live portrait model and one long
pose. Simplifying the underlying structure of the head and color will be
the focus of the class. We will have a different model each week with an
occasional pose held for two consecutive weeks.
There will be a model fee payable at each class determined by the number of
students in the class.

This class will delve into fi gurative, expressionistic, abstract and nonobjective
modes of expression. Participants will have the freedom to
explore any of these painting styles and will be given instruction on the
method of their choosing. This course will fi ne tune the basics of painting,
design and color applications. Instruction on fi gure painting will also be
provided during this course.

Portraits in Oil

This class will focus on the raw emotion that can be provoked from within
as well as from the image that is used for reference. Expressionism in
oils on canvas will be the driving style of this session. Use your creativity
for this class as we concentrate on painting portraits from a frontal view.
Bring an image of a friend, family member or favorite celebrity.
